Happy Birthday Mommy

So today is my birthday, and the first thing I want to do to celebrate is make time to update your blog. Seems like just 10 mins of downtime is something I have to wait for my birthday for these days.

We have been very busy lately, and you and I have been spending lots of time on our own. Daddy has been in high demand, working around the clock doing his regular job and tons of side jobs. He has spent the last few weekends building a fence at Jessica and Steve's house. He finally finished on Saturday night, and we had the most fun day with Daddy yesterday. He was home all day!!!

You and Daddy were being naughty best friends. Mommy would try to get you to go on the potty, and tell you that you could have a princess vitamin if you finished...but instead I would find you off the potty eating candy with Daddy. You guys even put on matching beanie hats and were sliding down the stairs in a laundry basket. You LOVED spending time with your dad. When it was time for bed last night, you kept crying saying you needed to kiss him on the lips. Daddy had to come back about 5 times. He loved it.

For the last couple days he has been playing Little Mermaid with you by being King Triton. Daddy takes off his shirt, and puts a white baby blanket over his head for hair. He talks in a very kingly voice. You think he is so funny. He calls you Ariel, but you always remind him you are Madison Julia.

We are getting so close to bringing home your new sister. I can hardly wait. It is so hard to imagine another little Madison. I am sure she will be her own little combination of Daddy and I, but you are soooo perfect..it is hard to imagine a different outcome. We feel sooooo blessed to have you. You talk about the baby a lot, and how you are excited for her to sleep in her new room. It is so cute. You wanted to help Daddy do all the work. Here is a pic of you guys putting in the floors.

You are extremely smart, outgoing, and loving. You have to kiss everyone before they leave and you cry if you forget. You love to dance and have everyone watch you. Lately you have wanted to dress up like a ballerina and you tell me you are in dance class. You have taught yourself how to hold your feet together to look like a ballerina and you spin with your hands on your head. I don't know where you learned your moves. I am hoping to get you into dance class once you turn three.

You, Daddy and I went to see the Indigo Girls. It was such a fun concert. You were dancing and eating candy the whole time :)

You are a swimmer...officially. You can actualy swim on your own without your floaties. And you are only 2!!.. A couple weeks ago, Daddy went to Texas for the weekend to help Aunt Christine build an office in her new house. So you and I had a weekened alone. We got invited to go up and stay in a fancy condo up in Park City with, John, Lolo and the Floor Family. We went swimming with TJ, Alex and Sam Sam. You were using yoru lifejacket, but it stared hurting your neck so I took it off and had you on the shallow stairs. I turned around for one minute, and turned back adn you had jumped off the stairs and you were swimming out intot hte deep. I was nervous, but just watched. You struggled, but swam out, and then turned around and swam back. I was AMAZED.

Then Daddy and I got a hotel room for our anniversary. We missed you so much, that the next morning we went and picked you up early from Emily's and brought you down tot he hotel pool. You didn't have any floaties, and just swam from one end of the pool to another. People kept asking us how old you were becuase there were much bigger kids in life jackets still. You are going to be a swimmer for sure.

You get CRAZY in our home pool and wanted to be in it every day this summer. You were a little timid at first, but once you realized you were safe in yoru mermaid floaty swim suit, you had no fear. You love to climb up and down the ladder and jump off the top rung. You jump backwards, and sometimes hoold your hands together like you are going to dive. I have to watch you pretty close becuase you really have no fear in there. You also like to "make dinner" on the steps of the ladder. You sit on one step, and then pretend to cook dinner on the rung above. Then you make me come over and eat my spaghetti or carrots, burgers, you have everything at your restaurant.

You still have Jimmo as your nanny. You love him, but take advantage of his sweetness at times. You talk back quite a bit, and don't really like to listen to direction. Hopefully it is a terrible 2 thing that ends right when you turn 3 :)

About a month ago, mommy got really bored one day and decided...why not go get Madi a haircut. it turned out to be the best decision ever. It turned out so cute. While we were waiting at the salon, daddy called to see where we are. I told him we were at the hairdresser...he was like"
WITHOUT ME??" I didn't think it was something Daddy would want to do. But he said to wait, and he sped over so he could watch. He loves you too much.

Here are some before and after pics. Everyone tells us how cute it is on you. You are almost ready for another trim.

You had lots of visits with your cousins this summer. We had everyone here for Grandma and Grandpa's 50th wedding anniversary. You had a blast. Then we had Will come sleep over, and your cousins Zianna, Moriah and Mallory here for a second visit later in the summer. They loved playing with you. You guys put on a play of the three little bears in the playhouse. Jen was the main star and director.

You have had tons of time with your Burchett cousins too. Her is a pic of a sleepover you had with Mary. This was your first night in your big girl bed.

You and Daddy and I stayed up in Park City one night with Jen because she had a work party up there. We had a really fun night. We went swimming, and went to main street to have dinner. You were supposed to sleep in Jen';s bed with her, but you wanted to snuggle with Mommy and Daddy. By the morning, Mommy was in Jen's bed because you and daddy were taking up too much room :)

Here are just a few other fun shots. The carebear outfit was from Melissa. The princess dress is one that mommy made you (with lots of help from jessica) and the next two pics are just you being you. Eating in your chair making a mess, and playing in blankets on the floor.

Since the baby is coming any day, it may be a while until I get to update your blog. I want you to know how very special you are to me. My life began when I had you. You are my greatest joy, accomplishment, and best friend. I love you SOOOOOOOO much and always will. I can't wait to see what a great big sister you are going to be. I know you will be the best becuase you are the best at everything.

Love you forever and always xoxoxoxoxox Mama

p.s. - now when you go to bed, I have to sing love you forever with daddy, then I have to sing Baby Mine, Skinnamarinki dinki dink, and Daisy 2 before I can close the door. then you say Goodnight Mama and you go to bed. Such a good girl. I still almost always cry when I sing baby mine. I am soooo blessed.

A Few Pics From Camping

First time to Strawberry (which you loved saying). First one is you an Gunes waiting to GO ALREADY :), then you and Fer Fer right before you fell asleep in the fishing boat. Then you snuggled with Daddy for a little nap.

Daddy caught a big one :)

Gunes was teaching you how to roast a marshmallow and block the smoke from your eyes

The second trip to Strawberry was all about Gavin :) You guys both love to play together!

"Her feets and hands are in your belly"

Last night you told me that your baby sister had a dress on in my belly. And then you said
her feets and hands are in your belly". Too cute. I think you are starting to get that you are going to have a new baby to love here pretty soon. I am trying to cherish these last couple of months we have with just you, me and Daddy. We love you so much, and it is hard to imagine loving another baby as much as we love you. But I am pretty sure we will :)

Other ways you interact with your sister. You like to tickle my belly button, and you think you are tickling the baby. You like the baby to kick you, but here is the big secret...normally I just flex my tummy so you think she is doing it. You like to kick her sometimes too :( And jump on her quite a bit when Mommy is laying down.

Daddy started working on the baby's room yesterday, and you were a BIG helper. You kept going in and picking up the measuring tape and telling me you were working. Poor Daddy is stuck doing the majority of his own...but it is a labor of love.

You were kind of a handful to watch yesterday becuase daddy was working and I was trying to clean the house because Emily and the kids were coming over for a BBQ, swimming and guitar practice session. I went down the hallway and asked Daddy "where is the little beast".

You were in your room and right on Que, you yelled "the little beasts down here". We had a good laugh. Guess we need to stop lovingly referring to you as that...cause you knew who we meant.

I don't think I have written much about your new babysitter...but it is Jim! you call him Jimmo, and LOVE him. He plays with you all day, and is teaching you to be potty trained. Right now, you make it most of the day going pee pee on the potty. Every now and then you have a little accident, but you are getting it.

You still don't love going to bed in your new big bed. You are always asking me to "close the door a little bit", but when I do, you just come right out. Bama told me that maybe you didn't feel safe in there and that maybe you need some pillows around you so they were like the walls of yoru crib. Turns out she was right. Now Daddy and I read to you, say a prayer, sing "I love you forever" and then you ask me to build yoru fort. Every now and then you still cry at your door, but 9 out of 10 times, it works.

You have been camping a couple of times this summer and you love it. Last weekend we went with Dash, Matt, Kim, Jake, Gavin, Rachel, Jimmo, Jen & Gunes. It was really fun. You LOVED picking flowers, roasting marshmallows, watching movies in the tent trailer and chasing Gavin. Trust me, it wasn't a picnic for Mommy...but worth it. it is hard to keep up with a two year old with a 8 month old baby in your tummy :)

Lots more to tell, and pictures to post, but as usually...takes me forever to get anything on this blog. So I will post this for now. Love you forever and always.

Mama

Oh yeah - we did have one other MAJOR mishap last week. I remembered after I typed the word picture. I downloaded all of your videos and pictures to my external hard drive last week. I was watching some really cute videos of you that I wanted to show you. So I called you downstairs to look. When I turned my head for a minute, you knocked the hard-drive on the floor. Very long story short..it is $500-$1000 to get it fixed :) Not sure if it will be fixed before you turn 18. I found a good portion of your old photos...but I am afraid there may be some lost for good. Not cool :) My fault for not getting a closer eye on my busy little two-year-old.

Old McDonald had a "WHAT"???

So most likely, this will be the grossest story I tell in your journal...but I can't help but capture this memory.

The other night you were in the bathtub. You are big enough now, that I come in and out while you play. I could+ hear you int he tub talking to your toys and splashing around. I went in to wash your hair and noticed you had set up all of your toy animals in a row along the top of the tub. It was so cute. There was a pig, cow, horsey, and then I noticed something strange. I had to squint my eyes to figure out what the next animal was.

Oh my gosh...it was POO. You had pooped in the tub, picked it up, and put it in the farm animal lineup. it was about the same size and shape of your animals so it fit right in. Trying my hardest not to laugh, I asked you what it was. You proudly told me poo. I had to call in Daddy.

We were DYING but trying not to let it show. Daddy and I both told you it was very naughty, but couldn't stop laughing. The poo poo line-up was too funny.

Because I want to capture all of your funny moments, we decided to take a pic. Daddy came back with the camera and just as I was snapping the picture...you say "Say cheese poo poo". That was it.. we were rolling...how did you even know what we were taking a picture of. We were trying not to draw too much attention to what you had done.

You knew you were funny and started laughing too.

So that is it. Really inappropriate story, but one I will love to tell your friends when you get older :)

Love you forever and always.

Check out the memory on this kid

So tonight mommy decided that rather than ignoring the blog because I feel guilty to have skipped 5 months of updates...I was going to just bite the bullet and start writing again. The blog really isnt for anyone but you, Daddy and I to remember what a sweet, amazing, smart and funny baby you were. Time goes by soooo quickly, and I want to be sure to remember all the little cute things you did when you were a baby.

So you only like to be referred to as Madison Julia. If I call you anything else, Madi, Dolly, Bad girl..anything..you say "No, I'm Madison Julia". Which is funny because a few months ago when we told you that was your name, you said you were just Madison. You haven't warmed up to Mangrum yet, but every once in a while we get away with calling you that too. You think Julia is your last name becuase you also call me Mama Julia and Daddy is Daddy Julia.

I have to make sure I tell this cute story. So a couple of weeks ago, we were driving down the road with Daddy. Daddy is not the best driver (to put it mildly). So Daddy swerved to hit someone and I called out "Oh My Gosh Bert, You almost HIT THAT GUY!".

Anyway, about 3 days later, we were driving home from having dinner and Glee night at Darrell's house. You were in the back seat and pretty quite as we drove home. Then, out of nowhere you yells "Oh my gosh Mom, he almost hit that guy!". We busted up laughing. I had to immediately call Aunt Jennifer & Emily to tell them what you just said. It is crazy how much you remember.

You LOVE Mary....sooo much. You don't like to take naps anymore, but if I tell you we will go to Mary's house when you wake up...you go right to bed. You love all of your cousins...but she is definitely at the top of the list.

Your nightly routine is pretty cute. You and I go into your room and read books..you always ask for :just one more" but you obviously don't know what just one means cause you FREAK when we are done. Daddy then comes in with your glass of water, and whoever else is at our house that night. We all kneel down for a prayer, and sometimes you want to say it. When you say it, I whisper to you what you say and then you reapet it back in a SUPER soft whisper that we can almost not hear. It is pretty cute though.

Anyway, when prayer is over, I sing "I love you forever" about 3-4 times. Sometimes you sing parts of it back. Well a few months ago, Mommy had to go on bed rest for the new baby...and so I couldn't hold you for very long. So Daddy started to say in for our singing time and he would hold you while I sang. Now Daddy has started singing to you so. So Daddy and I sing and both hold you now, We love you forever, we like you for always, now and forever our baby you'll be. You make us do it over and over. LOVE that time!

You still love to jump on your tramp, and now that it is nice out, you play in your "dollhouse" (playhouse) all day long.

Now lets talk about what you did today...so Daddy and I were in the living room folding clothes. It has been a busy couple of weeks and we were looking forward to a nice relaxing day of yard work and chores around the house. You were running between the living room and your bedroom and juswt playing quietly. All of the sudden I heard you saying "I'm a naughty, bad girld Dada". You were down in your room and said it a few times. I told Daddy he better go see whagt the naughty bad girl was up to. He figured he would as soon as we finished putting away all of the clothes.

We went down to our room and put clothes away. you kept coming in and out taling to us and showing us your toys. Then just as aI laid down on the bed for a quick break, I noticed you were holding an empty bottle of childrens benedryl, You held it up and said "I'm a naughty girl". It took a minute to sink in....you drank the benedryl....ughhh....panic.

A bit of background, you have had a cough and a little rash for a few days. So at night I have been giving you a tsp of benedryl (per the Dr). You LOVE it, and after we give you a taste..you cry cause you want more.

I knew you drank it. I immediately told Daddy we had to head to the hospital. I called poison control and they told me the same thing. You didn't love getting checked out by the Dr. They put a sticker on your finger that took your pulse. You kept taking it off. They put a little froggy band on you that took your blood pressure...you liked that because you are OBSESSED with princess frog and we told you the froggy was giving you a hug.

You went through a few stages from the medicine...VERY ornery, angry, and then super snuggly., That was the best part. Makes me want you to drink benedryl all the time :) not. Anyway, at the end of it all, 3 hours later and about $300....they just watched you and sent us home. Better safe that sorry. We headed over to costco and continued our day with some groceries and then back home for a nap. What a day. SOOOO glad you are safe.

You will notice that there are no pictures in this entry. That is for a coupel of reasons. #1...I just want to make sure I post this...so I have to just get it up today :) #2...Daddy and I can't find our battery charger for our camera. I think I have finally given up and plan to order one when we I finish posting this.

So now that I have broken the 5 month writers block..I am baby baby! I am going to try and remember some more cute memories from the past 5 months and update them.

Love you too much forever and always.

Merry Christmas Baby

Another fun holiday with my sweet baby girl. I have always loved Christmas, but it is so much better with you around.

We started off the holidays with a little Christmas party at our house. We invited lots of our friends to come over for a Christmas pot luck. That was my first chance to dress you up in your super cute party dress. I ran all over town looking for just the right one. You and I went shopping one day, and you LOVED trying on the dresses. You thought you looked like a "princee" (which is how you say princess). When I finally brought home your beautiful red dress, you were so excited to put it on. I did your hair in ponytails and cute ribbons. You had so much fun playing with Harlowe, Evan, Maya, Ella & Gavin.

Next we put the dress back on for a trip down to Temple Square to hear Katherine sing with her school choir. It was pretty scary when we first walked into the Assembly Hall becuase it was really silent except for the singing. You didn't feel like sitting still or being quite. Luckily I had planned ahead and started shoving your mouth full of marshmallows, apples and pirates. Fortunate you didn't notice Mary sitting at the other end of the aisle until the concert was over because then you immediately wanted to go see her. You really love "Mernie". Katherine did a great job with her chorus. Hope you turn out to be as sweet a teenager as she has :)

The final wearing of the party dress was to the annual Floor Christmas Eve bash. You had a great time playing with Sammi and Alex. Alex loves to push you two around the living room in a laundry basket.

(quick side note - so I just went and got you up from your nap. I told you we were going to go to the gym (which you love doing) but for some reason you said "no bye-bye". So then Daddy called and I asked him if you wanted to talk on the phone. Usually that means you maybe say "hi" but then put the phone down. This time, for the first time, I handed you the phone and you put it up to your ear and walked out of the room. You started acutlaly carrying on a conversation with Daddy. You said Hi Daddy, no go bye-bye. then some other cute things I couldn't understand. Then again you told him no go bye-bye and started to cry." Guess I wont make you go to the gym tonight. Such a big girl. 1/3/11 - first LONG phone conversation. Time to get you a cellphone :) )

When we got back from the Floor's party, Grandma, Grandpa, Kim, Koda, Jen, Hamlet and Gunes all came over for a Christmas Eve sleepover. We all tried to go to bed pretty early that night so we coudl wake up and see what Santa brought us.

You slept in until 9am - and actually had to be woken up. This is probably one of the last years you won't be waking us up early. We had you and Dakota line up in age (both families tradition) and then walk into the room with the tree. We had your big gifts covered up under blankets, but you went right for your overflowing stocking.

You got bored of your stocking about 1/2 way through...right about at the point you found the M&M's. From there on our, all you wanted was that candy. We unveiled your drums, and they were an instant hit...then your big kitchen. You didn't give me the squealing and crying of overjoy I was looking for..but I think you liked your stuff.

You really weren't too into opening presents this year. You were pretty much done in about 30 mins...but still had a mountain of gifts to open. So mommy put them aside and we went and had breakfast (cinnamon buns and scrambled eggs).

We just hung out for most of the rest of the day. You and I took a quick trip up to see Emily and your cousins to see what Santa brought them (so glad they are close) and then you went home for a quick nap.

After your nap we had a nice big Christmas dinner and then hung out with the family until about 10pm when they all went home. It was a fun day and great Christmas., This is mommy's favorite time of the year for sure. In fact, I am just barely finishing this update now on 1/14 and our tree is still up :) We picked a good one this year.

The Christmas fun was not over yet though...the next day Suzie, Keith, Ben, Audrey and your best buddy Ben arrived for a visit. it was Sammy's 8th birthday and he got baptized that night. We all went to his baptism and you got to wear your Christmas dress for a final time (I got my monies worth). You were not very good at the church - Daddy spent most of the baptism in the hallway with a roudy girl. After the baptism we went over to Ben's grandparents house for some cake and ice cream. You got a little messy and had fun playing with your cousins.

We did lots of fun stuff with the Irwins over the next week. We had a sleepover, went ice skating, played lots of Wii Just Dance (mommy is the best) and lots of messing up the house. You and your cousins tore this place apart, but had so much fun doing it.

You and Ben got a little "pushy" with each other and both need to do some work on sharing. the morning after our sleepover, I went to get you out of your bed. The first thing you said was Ben and Sue Sue go bye-bye" quickly followed by "Ben pushing me" (which you said all the time...even when he wasn't). Guess you had been dreaming about it that night.

The Irwins were scheduled to leave on Monday, but then as luck would have it, they missed their flight. Yippee for us! Daddy went to get them at the airport and we got one more sleepover before they had to go.

You still miss your Bed and have been saying "Thank you Sue Sue,,Thank you Ben" when we drive in the car. Not sure what you are thanking them for, but my guess is a fun visit. We sure miss them when they are gone.

So that is all for my Christmas update...a couple weeks late. I and TYING to get better at posting...but we will see.

Love you forever and always...Mama
