Merry Christmas Baby

Another fun holiday with my sweet baby girl. I have always loved Christmas, but it is so much better with you around.

We started off the holidays with a little Christmas party at our house. We invited lots of our friends to come over for a Christmas pot luck. That was my first chance to dress you up in your super cute party dress. I ran all over town looking for just the right one. You and I went shopping one day, and you LOVED trying on the dresses. You thought you looked like a "princee" (which is how you say princess). When I finally brought home your beautiful red dress, you were so excited to put it on. I did your hair in ponytails and cute ribbons. You had so much fun playing with Harlowe, Evan, Maya, Ella & Gavin.

Next we put the dress back on for a trip down to Temple Square to hear Katherine sing with her school choir. It was pretty scary when we first walked into the Assembly Hall becuase it was really silent except for the singing. You didn't feel like sitting still or being quite. Luckily I had planned ahead and started shoving your mouth full of marshmallows, apples and pirates. Fortunate you didn't notice Mary sitting at the other end of the aisle until the concert was over because then you immediately wanted to go see her. You really love "Mernie". Katherine did a great job with her chorus. Hope you turn out to be as sweet a teenager as she has :)

The final wearing of the party dress was to the annual Floor Christmas Eve bash. You had a great time playing with Sammi and Alex. Alex loves to push you two around the living room in a laundry basket.

(quick side note - so I just went and got you up from your nap. I told you we were going to go to the gym (which you love doing) but for some reason you said "no bye-bye". So then Daddy called and I asked him if you wanted to talk on the phone. Usually that means you maybe say "hi" but then put the phone down. This time, for the first time, I handed you the phone and you put it up to your ear and walked out of the room. You started acutlaly carrying on a conversation with Daddy. You said Hi Daddy, no go bye-bye. then some other cute things I couldn't understand. Then again you told him no go bye-bye and started to cry." Guess I wont make you go to the gym tonight. Such a big girl. 1/3/11 - first LONG phone conversation. Time to get you a cellphone :) )

When we got back from the Floor's party, Grandma, Grandpa, Kim, Koda, Jen, Hamlet and Gunes all came over for a Christmas Eve sleepover. We all tried to go to bed pretty early that night so we coudl wake up and see what Santa brought us.

You slept in until 9am - and actually had to be woken up. This is probably one of the last years you won't be waking us up early. We had you and Dakota line up in age (both families tradition) and then walk into the room with the tree. We had your big gifts covered up under blankets, but you went right for your overflowing stocking.

You got bored of your stocking about 1/2 way through...right about at the point you found the M&M's. From there on our, all you wanted was that candy. We unveiled your drums, and they were an instant hit...then your big kitchen. You didn't give me the squealing and crying of overjoy I was looking for..but I think you liked your stuff.

You really weren't too into opening presents this year. You were pretty much done in about 30 mins...but still had a mountain of gifts to open. So mommy put them aside and we went and had breakfast (cinnamon buns and scrambled eggs).

We just hung out for most of the rest of the day. You and I took a quick trip up to see Emily and your cousins to see what Santa brought them (so glad they are close) and then you went home for a quick nap.

After your nap we had a nice big Christmas dinner and then hung out with the family until about 10pm when they all went home. It was a fun day and great Christmas., This is mommy's favorite time of the year for sure. In fact, I am just barely finishing this update now on 1/14 and our tree is still up :) We picked a good one this year.

The Christmas fun was not over yet though...the next day Suzie, Keith, Ben, Audrey and your best buddy Ben arrived for a visit. it was Sammy's 8th birthday and he got baptized that night. We all went to his baptism and you got to wear your Christmas dress for a final time (I got my monies worth). You were not very good at the church - Daddy spent most of the baptism in the hallway with a roudy girl. After the baptism we went over to Ben's grandparents house for some cake and ice cream. You got a little messy and had fun playing with your cousins.

We did lots of fun stuff with the Irwins over the next week. We had a sleepover, went ice skating, played lots of Wii Just Dance (mommy is the best) and lots of messing up the house. You and your cousins tore this place apart, but had so much fun doing it.

You and Ben got a little "pushy" with each other and both need to do some work on sharing. the morning after our sleepover, I went to get you out of your bed. The first thing you said was Ben and Sue Sue go bye-bye" quickly followed by "Ben pushing me" (which you said all the time...even when he wasn't). Guess you had been dreaming about it that night.

The Irwins were scheduled to leave on Monday, but then as luck would have it, they missed their flight. Yippee for us! Daddy went to get them at the airport and we got one more sleepover before they had to go.

You still miss your Bed and have been saying "Thank you Sue Sue,,Thank you Ben" when we drive in the car. Not sure what you are thanking them for, but my guess is a fun visit. We sure miss them when they are gone.

So that is all for my Christmas update...a couple weeks late. I and TYING to get better at posting...but we will see.

Love you forever and always...Mama
